Vital questions to ask before hiring a fiduciary

Updated: Jul 20, 2021

Only fiduciary advisors are legally and ethically obligated to consider your best interest over their own.

What makes a fiduciary advisor different from the rest? Many advisors are considered to be employed by broker-dealers governed only by a suitability standard. That individual’s decisions only have to be suitable for someone like you, not necessarily the best for your specific situation. As a registered independent advisory firm working under a fiduciary obligation, we must place the interest of clients ahead of our own in all situations. The bar is higher.

Why do I need a fiduciary advisor? Individuals and institutions need a financial advocate helping them make decisions that are in the best interest of their family or organization. Other advisors may help clients make decisions, but the rationale underlying those decisions is often revenue-driven on behalf of the advisor’s firm.

How often will we communicate? Regularly. Our financial planning clients can access our team as much as they would like. At a minimum, we will proactively reach out to each client to have a semi-annual review. If a client prefers to meet more frequently, then we will accommodate their requests.

Do you earn commissions? A fiduciary advisor must disclose all potential conflicts of interest. Any commissionable products that might be the best fit for a client’s situation would be disclosed to the client as such. We value transparency in everything we do and our clients appreciate knowing exactly what they’re paying for.

What technology keeps my information safe? Our advisors utilize E-Money, an innovative financial planning software that is protected by 256-bit encryption. This level of security is double what many other financial planning software will utilize and ensures your information stays safe and locked away.

What is your investment approach? We utilize some of the best asset managers in the world to bring our clients' financial plans to life. We take into account your risk tolerance, time horizon, and financial goals when building your customized investment portfolio.

Are you always legally bound to work in my best interest? Our advisors are always working for the benefit of your family.
